If there is a legendary car from Nissan, it is the GT-R. It could be that it will see its electric descendant arrive in the next decade.

We already knew that Nissan was potentially preparing an electric version of its supercar, but things are now becoming a little more precise. If the manufacturer has not provided a final image of their future baby, it has just unveiled a concept offering a taste of what could be the future electric GT-R. So, we will have to say goodbye to the famous VR38DETT biturbo V6, but certainly not to the number of horses under the hood of the beast!

The Hyper Force EV concept: a glimpse of the future

It was in October, during the Japan Mobility Show, that Nissan unveiled its latest concept: the Hyper Force EV. Even if the entire specifics remain unknown for the moment, Nissan has still dangled the incredible power of the engine. While the most powerful thermal version of the GT-R, the NISMO, already offered 600 hp, the Hyper Force EV will be equipped with a 1,000 kW engine, or 1,341 hp!

Insane power, which will be transmitted to the ground thanks to e-4ORCE technology, a rather advanced all-wheel drive system developed by Nissan. This is already present in the Nissan Ariya SUV, and allows very precise control of the distribution of power and braking on all four wheels.

A design studied for aerodynamics

If some bad tongues could compare the concept to a flattened Cybertruck due to its rather square overall appearance, it is because Nissan has worked on the silhouette of its vehicle for maximum efficiency. This was developed in collaboration with the brand’s performance division, NISMO (Nissan Motorsport International Limited).

The concept sports a chunky appearance and seems truly bolted to the ground, certainly helped by its huge rear diffuser. At the front will also be located movable aerodynamic elements, which will help redirect the air flow around the vehicle. Result: improved lift and stability at high speed.

Inside the cabin, it’s almost science fiction as it feels like you’re inside a spaceship. For the moment, we know the concept is equipped with two driving modes: the “R”, intended for track use, lights up the entire cabin in red. The different screens also adapt to display important data to keep an eye on when the car is launched to run lap times. “GT” mode, for its part, gives the car a slightly more relaxed atmosphere: blue lighting and simplified infotainment.

Even if Nissan has not made the Hyper Force EV official as a true electric GT-R, the blurred GT-R logo on the front grille and the roundness of the rear headlights leave very little room for doubt. The program’s design director, Giovanny Arroba, has hinted that this supercar could well leave the factories within the decade, despite its very bold design.
