The return of the mythical franchise Capcom vs SNK interests the two Japanese developers

Questioned by VGC following the EVO, Yasuyuki Oda confirms that the return of the collaboration between the two friends and rival developers of the fighting game has been considered. “It’s definitely something we want to achieve, for both parties involved. Especially after we saw the reception of the posters, we could gauge the interest of the fighting game community.”

However, the project is only at the idea stage: “We haven’t really talked about it in detail with the people at Capcom, at most we vaguely mentioned the idea. But we have a lot of experience with crossovers, just see the presence of Geese and Akuma in Tekken, Terry Bogard in Fighting EX Layer, Terry in Smash Bros., Baiken in Samurai Shodown… Only lately, we haven’t done anything with Capcom. These posters at EVO are really the first step towards a project that could happen in the future.”

Still played today in small tournaments, especially at EVO, where the Japanese player BAS still wins all the trophies with his diabolical Blanka A-Groove, CVS2 celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. Too long a wait for Yasuyuki Oda: “Twenty years is way too long. We will try to do it in ten years!”
