In the seventh episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power we see the aftermath of the volcanic eruption from the previous episode. From the Southlands now comes Mordor and Halbrand is badly injured and in need of Elvish medicine. So Galadriel takes him to Lindon to Gil-galad – a big mistake!

From the start, Halbrand has been a popular candidate on lists of possible Sauron identities, and more clues have recently been scattered. It is now all but confirmed by his journey into the heart of the Elven realm to Gil-galad and Celebrimbor. We’ll tell you what the final clue needs to be so we can say with certainty: Halbrand is Sauron!

A Friendship Between Halbrand & Celebrimbor: The Fatal Doom!

If Galadriel brings Halbrand to Lindon, we assume that Gil-galad doesn’t want to harbor the shady human any longer than necessary. He may even distrust the “King of the Southlands”. But the kind-hearted Celebrimbor, who is also interested in cultures other than Elvish, could take Halbrand to heart. Redflag!

From Tolkien’s Legendarium we know that Sauron approaches Celebrimbor and gives him tips for forging. Since Halbrand is also a blacksmith, this coincides. Sauron tricks Celebrimbor and the Elves of Eregions into forging the rings of power, and provides them with the key to the rings’ magic.

So if Halbrand is to live in Eregion at Celebrimbor from now on and give the Elven smith tips for forging, we can be almost certain that he is Sauron. His kingdom, Mordor, would already be waiting for him.

Halbrand did say to Galadriel in episode 7 of “The Rings of Power” that he would not leave his people alone and fight for the Southlands, but this can be interpreted in many ways. He may also mean the orc race. So we doubt he’s in any hurry to leave Lindon or Eregion. Or does Galadirle even ask him to stay longer?

The Rings of Power: Sauron the Shapeshifter

Since Halbrand is very handsome, many might find it unthinkable that he could be Sauron. However, Tolkien readers know that Sauron can shapeshift in the Second Age. An ability he loses after the Fall of Númenor. However, at the time of the series, he still possesses this gift.

In a beautiful and above all charismatic form, Sauron finally succeeds in winning over the elves of Eregions to his cause. Halbrand certainly has the necessary charisma, although Sauron calls himself Annatar in his beautiful form. However, whether Amazon also has the rights to the name Annatar is questionable.

Amazon also owns the rights to parts of “The Silmarillion”, but mainly the appendices of “The Lord of the Rings” are adapted. In the upcoming episode we will surely learn more about the news program of Amazon Prime Video. But at the latest in “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2!
