The seventh episode of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and heralds the grand finale that awaits us next week. There’s a lot that has happened that needs to be processed, and we break down the key scenes and what they mean for next week’s – hopefully – epic season finale!

Since we explain the end and thus go into the events of “The Rings of Power” Episode 7, we’ll give you a self-explanatory one again spoiler alert! If you have already read the episode, we wish you a lot of fun with the following text!

Nori, the harfeet and the stranger

The Harfeet come to the end of their journey and they find scorched earth, for the eruption of Mount Doom has left more extensive damage than one might think. They cannot hibernate and find food at the burnt grove.

Sadoc then asks the stranger to use his magic and provide green space, fruit and food. The stranger makes every effort, but an accident puts Nori and her little sibling in danger. The stranger then leaves the group.

When the three mystics appear and are obviously looking for the stranger, Nori wants to lure them in the wrong direction, but the three don’t hesitate and finally burn down the Harfuss’ wagons. It’s enough for Nori and she wants to go and warn her boyfriend. Sadoc, Magsi and Goldblume follow her.

In the next episode, the stranger will probably meet the mystics and the harfeet. Are the mystics really evil or do they belong to the same species as the stranger? One theory is that the mystics are magicians like the stranger and the mystics are only looking for the stranger to help him. But they really don’t seem that friendly.

The mystics steal something from Nori’s head

In a brief moment, one of the mystics steals something from Nori’s head. Is it a strand of hair or something from her headdress? That is hard to say. What does she need it for? Also hard to say, possibly for a magical ritual.

Galadriel and the Númenorians

After the eruption of Mount Doom, unrest reigns in the southern lands, which are henceforth called Mordor. Galadriel saves himself and now plans to move back to Lindon to inform High King Gil-galad of the events. He probably owes her a big apology.

She takes the injured Halbrand to Lindon, which craves Elvish medicine. Thus, should the theory that Halbrand is Sauron prove true, it would lead the enemy straight into the heart of the Elven realm. We have to watch out for signs: If Celebrimbor picks up Halbrand because he admires his forging skills, we can be sure: Halbrand is Sauron!

For Queen Regent Míriel, who has been blinded by the volcanic eruption, it is time to return home, to Númenor. Elendil follows her. However, some Númenóreans remain in Middle-earth and Isildur is still presumed dead. But is he really dead?

That’s why Isildur can’t be dead!

Isildur isn’t dead, of course. He may have been buried by a collapsing house, but that doesn’t mean anything. His horse is looking for him and book connoisseurs already know which key role Isildur will have in the future.

Bronwyn, Arondir, and Theo head west

With nothing keeping Bronwyn, Arondir and Theo in the Southlands, they set out for the foot of Anduin. The Anduin is the river that the Fellowship of the Ring navigate in The Fellowship of the Ring. There is said to be an ancient colony of Númenor called Pelargir.

Elrond, Durin and the Balrog

Durin IV defies his father’s wishes and digs deeper to help Elrond and the Elves. He falls out with his father. Can the two make up again? Who knows, for in the depths of Khazad-dum lies a slumbering Balrog, awakened by continued mithril mining. If fate is cruel, King Durin III will die before the two can speak out.

This would especially suit the tragic character that is Durin IV. It could have come from a play by Shakespeare. He wants to help his friend, who is like a brother to him, and thereby creates the downfall of his own empire. Actually, kind-hearted Durin didn’t deserve this!

The Southlands, uh – we mean Mordor!

At the end of the episode, Adar finally declares: The Southlands are dead, long live…Mordor! The southern lands have now finally become the dreadful realm of Mordor, where Sauron will build his forces to conquer Middle-earth. Before doing so, however, he seduces Celebrimbor to forge the Rings of Power. Will we finally find out in the finale where Sauron is hiding?
