Howard Shore’s theme song for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” sounds, and sand vibrates on a black background, which is repeatedly composed into new geometric shapes. This opening scene of the “Lord of the Rings” series, which greets us at the beginning of each episode, lasts a total of 1 minute and 30 seconds.

More than a pure creative and visual spectacle, this opening intro also tells of the past and future of Middle-earth. Specifically, the intro refers to the musical creation of the world by the god Eru Ilúvatar. This was there before the beginning of time and created the Valar and all further creation with the help of the “music of the Ainur” (Ainulindale).

This is Tolkien’s most complicated but beautiful origin myth. The entire “Rings of Power” intro is based on these. In addition, however, there is a deeper meaning and symbolism hidden in it, which tells us more about the history and upcoming plot of the series.
