If the name of the Beamdog studio means nothing to you, there is however a good chance that you have already put your fingers in some of their productions (in all friendship). This Canadian structure was created by one of the co-founders of BioWare, Trent Oster, and by a former programmer from the same box, Cameron Tofer. We owe them the versions Enhanced from Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights and Planescape Torment. It was in April 2022 that this fine team opened the doors of theearly access of Mythforce. A cooperative game with a strong roguelite component, the title is intended to be an assumed tribute to American animated productions of the 80s.
“By the power of the ancestral skullaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal!“
Just lay your eyes on the latest trailer delivered by Beamdog for a few seconds to smell the sweet scent of toasted sandwiches, and the bowl of corn flakes filled with fresh Saturday morning milk. The artistic direction is steeped in cartoons eighties. We think of masters of the universeTo She Ra, Conan the adventurerto Cosmocats…. And also to Tygra, ice and fire by Ralph Bakshi. In this setting of nostalgia, we will embody one of the four heroes: Rico the Thief, Victoria the Knight, Hawkins the Hunter and Maggie the Magician. The goal of this saturday dream team will be to attack a dungeon controlled by the vampire lord Deadalus. So we’re going to laminate vampires, ghouls and hairy monsters in joy and good humor.
As previously said, Mythforce is already in early access on the Epic Games Store for the sum of 26.99€. A demo of the game is available on Steam as part of the Steam Neo Fest until June 26, 2023.
