The makers of “The Rookie” led us on the wrong track twice in season 6. So there will probably still be a storyline that was initially denied. That’s what lies behind it.

- Shortly after Bailey actress Jenna Dewan made her pregnancy public, it was said that the pregnancy would not be an issue on the show.
- Now everything indicates that John and Bailey will become parents in season 7 of “The Rookie” at the latest.
Before the start of “The Rookie” Season 6, Jenna Dewan announced that she was pregnant. Of course, fans of the ABC series then assumed that her character Bailey Nune and John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) would soon also be expecting children. So far in “The Rookie” it has always been the case that the actresses’ real pregnancies have also been woven into the series’ story.
So it was the case for both Mekia Cox and Alyssa Diaz that motherhood happiness awaited their characters Nyla Harper and Angela Lopez in the series too. But things should be different with Jenna Dewan. John Nolan even ended his relationship with Jessica Russo in the past because she wanted to have children and he didn’t.
Showrunner Alexi Hawley revealed to the US magazine TVLine before the start of season 6 that Jenna Dewan’s pregnancy would not be part of the series plot. This has been adhered to in the previous episodes of the new season, but apparently the series makers also wanted to lead us on the wrong track. Because at the end of episode 6 of “The Rookie” season 6, John and Bailey suddenly want to become parents.

The topic of having children didn’t come up until episode 5, when John and Bailey spontaneously took in a little girl whose mother had just been killed. In the end they even get to the point where they want to become the girl’s foster parents, but then one of the child’s uncles shows up and takes his niece with him. What remains is Bailey’s sudden desire for a family.
Here the series makers are cleverly preparing a 7th season of “The Rookie”. Depending on when the ABC series’ sequel is officially confirmed, Jenna Dewan could still be heavily pregnant when filming begins.
Season 6 was able to establish John and Bailey’s desire to have children and in season 7 we see how the two become parents. Jenna Dewan can also appear in season 7 while heavily pregnant. The rapid progress of her pregnancy could easily be explained by a small leap into the future.
First of all, the remaining episodes of season 6 await us. However, ABC is taking another three-week break from broadcasting and episode 7 will therefore only await us on May 1, 2024 on Wow.
