“The Rookie” season 7 has finally been given the green light by US broadcaster ABC. We’ll tell you what we know so far about the sequel to the popular police series and what John Nolan could expect in the new episodes.
“The Rookie” became a hit for the US broadcaster ABC. The sixth season is still being broadcast, but season 7 of “The Rookie” has finally been officially confirmed.
With almost 6 million total viewers, the rating has only fallen slightly compared to season 5. Despite this, “The Rookie” lands at number 3 among ABC’s top-grossing dramas (via TVLine).

The Rookie Season 7: Start
Due to the Hollywood strikes in 2023, the schedules of all US series have been thrown into disarray. This makes it difficult to estimate when season 7 of “The Rookie” will appear. Traditionally we would say that there could be new episodes in autumn 2024, but since season 6 only premiered in February 2024, we are more likely to expect a start in early 2025.
The Rookie Season 7: Trailer
We probably won’t see a trailer for “The Rookie” Season 7 until 2025 at the earliest.
The Rookie Season 7: Plot
Since season 6 of “The Rookie” has not yet ended, we can only speculate at this point what will happen in season 7. But since John Nolan and Bailey Nune decided in episode 6 of the current season that they wanted to have a baby, we could see how their wish to have children comes true in the new episodes. Both John and Bailey have very dangerous jobs and parenthood and their work will certainly present many hurdles for them.
After Tim Bradford and Lucy Chen unexpectedly broke up in episode 6 and disappointed so many Chenford fans, there could possibly be a romantic comeback in season 7 of “The Rookie”. However, Tim will first need time to finally drive out the demons from his past.
However, Tim actor Eric Winter promises that the finale will be “big”. “We always put our all into the finale. There will be a lot of revelations and as for Tim and Lucy, they have some fun scenes together.” Among other things, “another great action scene.”
Winter also reveals: “Everyone is there for the team and supports each other and it ends in a really nice way. And as for Tim and Lucy, it leaves a nice kind of, I wouldn’t say closure or a guarantee for “anything, but it stays in a place where there’s something to talk about” in Season 7 (via TVLine).
The Rookie Season 7: Cast and Production
The main cast of the series will certainly not change in season 7. We assume we’ll still have Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune, Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Wade Grey, Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford, Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper and Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers.
Showrunner and head of “The Rookie” will most likely continue to be Alexi Hawley.
