Marisa Burger has been with Miriam Stockl as secretary since the first "Rosenheim Cops" episode. She knows the secret of the success of the ratings hit.

Time and again, "The Rosenheim Cops" (Tuesdays, 7:25 pm, ZDF) can look forward to record ratings. The 20th season is currently running and there is no end in sight. Bavarian actress Marisa Burger (47), who has always been well-informed police secretary Miriam Stockl since the first episode, explains the success of the series hit in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

You've been with us since the first episode. As an actress, what do you like most about this series?

Marisa Burger: We have a very, very good team of colleagues, we treat each other with respect and care, and there is a great working atmosphere. I am always happy when I come to the set. I also like the fact that we don't have crude thigh-thumping humor, but work with lots of little Bavarian puns and subtleties in gestures and facial expressions. It's a lot of fun.

And what do you particularly like about your role, Police Secretary Miriam Stockl?

Burger: Miriam Stockl has developed over the years, she is no longer a 20-year-old, but really involved in the cases. She is smart farmers, brings liveliness and a breath of fresh air to the presidium. That makes the whole thing very lively and I like that very much.

The 20th season is currently running. Why is the series so successful?

Burger: For one thing, the series is set in a very nice area. In Rosenheim, on the Chiemsee, the mountains are always nearby – these are optical delicacies. On the other hand, many can identify well with the characters because they are not too far-fetched, and each character also has its own little subplot. This is how it gets fun and exhilarating. Terrible murder cases with gruesome images and dark music, on the other hand, are not in the foreground. If you've seen "The Rosenheim Cops", you can still sleep. I think all of this taken together is a great pleasure for the audience.

What has changed in this recipe for success over the years?

Burger: There are always new characters who bring a breath of fresh air to the series. In addition, the commissioners take turns. Small changes and modernizations are very important.

Do the fans still remember a lot of the late actor Joseph Hannesschläger (1962-2020, Chief Inspector Korbinian Hofer) or do you have the feeling that it will be a little less?

Burger: Joseph Hannesschläger shaped the series. Without him we would definitely not have this success. He was a figurehead and has a lot of fans who don't forget him and that's a good thing.

How will the "Rosenheim Cops" continue after the season?

Burger: According to the current timetable, another winter special will be filmed in March and the next season from the end of April.
