Last August, Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, confirmed the release of Ryzen 7000 chips based on Zen 4. At the time of the announcement, four processors were mentioned, four CPUs since available. However, the catalog should quickly expand.

Expansion of the Zen 4 range

While we are still waiting for news of the 3D Vertical Cache technology adapted to the Ryzen 7000, it is “classic” models that are gradually making the news.

Thus, after the ultra high-end Ryzen 9 7950X and 7900X CPUs, then the high-end Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 5 7600X, AMD would therefore have the idea of ​​moving the lines towards less consumption.

It is true that one of the main complaints – apart from the price of the AM5 platform – made against the Ryzen Zen 4 is the increase in their TDP and their consumption without staggering gains.

Lower TDP, lower consumption

From the end of October, rumors raised the possibility of a Ryzen 7 7700 from AMD. A model which is now “confirmed” for us by the SiSoft Sandra databases.

According to this source, the Ryzen 7 7700 would not be alone and AMD would have the idea of ​​very quickly marketing a Ryzen 5 7600. Deprived of their “X”, the two processors would have the same number of cores as their “X” counterparts : respectively 8 cores/16 threads and 6 cores/12 threads. On the other hand, the TDP would be much lower.

While the Ryzen 7 7700X displays 140 Watts, the 7700 would be satisfied with 65 Watts, as much as the 7600 while its 7600X counterpart displayed a whopping 105 Watts. A change made possible by the drop in operating frequencies.

On this specific point, we do not yet have all the information, but according to SiSoft Sandra, the base frequency would be 3.8 GHz for the two processors (against 4.5 and 4.7 GHz). This would in fact lead to a drop in consumption expected by many users.
