The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra would fix the only flaw of its predecessor

It is rumored that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could be compatible with fast charging at 65 W. This would correct the only real defect that we noted against its predecessor.

It’s an interesting hallway noise that is beginning to emerge from the side of the Samsung Galaxy S24. Or more precisely Galaxy S24 Ultra. The high-end smartphone expected for early 2024 would be entitled to a major improvement. It would indeed be compatible with a 65 W load. A power never before reached on Samsung phones.

This information should be taken with a grain of salt for the moment. It comes to us from leaker RGcloudS. The latter does not yet have a lot of notoriety, but he had accurately predicted the US prices of the Galaxy S23 before their release.

In a tweet, he explains that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could finally taste the power of a 65 W charger. However, he points out in another publication that he does not yet confirm this lead. According to his information, this integration would be tested on a prototype of the future smartphone.

So let’s not cry victory too soon, but there is reason to hope that the Galaxy S24 Ultra can be charged faster than previous models capped at 45W, like the S23 Ultra.

Finally a real fast charge at Samsung

The question of fast charging has always been a big point of frustration at Samsung. Certainly, the South Korean brand does better in this area than the great rival Apple, but many competitors in the Android ecosystem have crossed the 65 W level a long time ago.

However, if the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra does benefit from a 65 W charge, it would correct the only real defect that we have against its predecessor – in addition to the very high price. All that remains is to cross your fingers for the improvements on this side to be really felt. As a reminder, we took a little over an hour to fully charge the Galaxy S23 Ultra with a 45 W charger. Can we hope to reduce this time to around 40 minutes for its successor?

A new battery technology

According to RGcloudS, this improvement in fast charging on the Galaxy S24 Ultra would be possible thanks to a new technique used by Samsung in the design of the batteries. The manufacturer would take inspiration from electric cars by stacking the components of the battery to improve the density of the latter.

Difficult to say in advance if this optimizes the autonomy of the smartphone. On the other hand, it would seem that a particular arrangement of this stack on the Galaxy S24 Ultra would allow Samsung to apply a cooling gel to better manage the heating of the battery and the stability of the 65 W load.

We bet that we will learn more in the future and that we will also know how the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus will be eaten.
