At the house of The Digitalswe try to find the best possible setting on the televisions we test and it must be said that the multitude of options available sometimes makes the task complex.
The idea is not to be satisfied with the cardboard output settings or the basic settings offered by the different models and to improve the rendering in SDR, HDR, and in game, so that our readers can do the same at home (not everyone has a colorimetric probe in their drawers).
A small adjustment and nothing changes
On the Samsung S90C, we measured a Delta E of 4.8 in SDR (and also in SDR in Game mode), a somewhat imprecise colorimetry since it exceeds the threshold of 3 beyond which the human eye perceives this type of colorimetric drift. We were in Filmmaker mode, but had set the color palette to “native” mode, and it turns out that “automatic” mode is better. The Delta E then drops to 2.6, a much more acceptable value.
Its sub-scores in “Image Quality” and “Game” gained a few points, which allowed the television to reach 5 stars in final score. The S90C is therefore even better than expected and appears to be a model of choice for those who want a QD-Oled television without blowing their budget too much. Remember, however, that our comparison is evolving, and that if other more talented competitors were to be tested soon, the S90C could well drop to 4 stars.
