“The Savior – We Are Lawyers” starts its third season. Assistant Ada leaves the blind lawyer. What the audience can expect.

The TV series “The Savior – We Are Lawyers” starts again – and how! The third season starts on Tuesday (November 2nd) at 8.15 p.m. on the first. And while the first two seasons (2018, 2020) each comprised six episodes, viewers can now look forward to 13 episodes. “It was already a challenge to shoot 13 episodes almost at a time,” admits leading actress Christina Athenstädt (42). Above all, she and the team would have been very lucky “to be able to shoot at all during this difficult time”.

The Cologne native reveals a detail about the content: “It was great fun, this character [Anwältin Heiland] to act in these different environments and with these many very different episode roles. Because in each of the 13 episodes Romy Heiland takes on a different Berlin milieu. “

These new episodes were also based on motifs from the autobiography “I see what you don’t see” by Pamela Pabst (born 1978) and Shirley Michaela Seul. Pamela Pabst is the first female criminal defense lawyer in Germany who is blind from birth.

That’s what the 13 new episodes are all about

The blind lawyer Romy Heiland (Athenstädt) is used to the fact that her help meets resistance – even from her own clients, for example from a young boxer who recently lost his sight and is now said to have crashed a car as a “speedster”, or a musician who is accused of bodily harm by her conductor. When she does a favor to a young dealer whom she previously represented pro bono, Romy ends up in custody. Was she too naive?

Romy’s assistant Ada Holländer (Anna Fischer, 35) only barely passes the intermediate examination as a paralegal. Ada finally realizes that the “lawyer” is not for her. Your decision is made: it goes. Romy is deeply hit. Ada’s brother, Ringo Holländer (Tim Kalkhof, 33), suggests his cousin Tilly Vogel (Sina Reiß, 36). Tilly is punctual, extremely committed and hardworking – Romy didn’t expect that. Tilly returns the favor to Ringo when he is looking for a room.

Privately, Romy is surprised by the news that her ex, Ben Ritter (Peter Fieseler, born 1977) is getting married. That hits Romy more than she wants to admit, although she is now happily in a relationship with public prosecutor Rudi Illić (Aleksandar Jovanovic, 50). Even in her own family, Romy is not safe from changes: one evening, her mother Karin Heiland (Peggy Lukac, 72) stands in front of the door completely distraught: Paul Heiland (Rüdiger Kuhlbrodt, 78), Romy’s father, has left her for a younger woman. Romy has to adjust to a completely new situation …

Change in line-up

After the death of the first leading actress Lisa Martinek (1972-2019) in the summer of 2019, Christina Athenstädt took on the role of the blind defense lawyer from the second season. “The grief could of course be felt. But it was clear to everyone involved that the sadness should have its place and nobody has to suppress anything. The series will always be associated with Lisa Martinek,” said Athenstädt of the news agency spot on news at the time about the shooting for the second season.

In season three there is a – much less dramatic – change in the main actors. Actress Anna Fischer is leaving the series in the direction of “new projects”, as she says. “I’m closing a big chapter. ‘The Savior’ was one of the most intense times in my life as an actress for me. But as life goes, there is so much more to see and I’m excited about what’s to come I think the music plays a big role, but I don’t want to reveal more, “said Fischer.

In the series, the departure of her trusted assistant is a shock and a great loss for the blind lawyer. Athenstädt explains about the new assistant Tilly Vogel: “Ms. Vogel tries very hard to get everything right, which Romy actually finds good, but which also annoys her somehow.”

Family ties in real life

The real family ties on set are also worth knowing. Actor Peter Fieseler has played Romy’s former partner Ben Ritter since the first season. In real life, Fieseler and Christina Athenstädt are a married couple. Will that go well with the filming?

“I loved shooting with Peter very, very much. It’s much nicer than I had thought. Because you know and trust each other so well. Just like the two characters,” said Athenstädt enthusiastically, adding: “I’m very much grateful that I was allowed to work with him and the other wonderful colleagues at the ‘Heiland’. “
