Nothing was left to chance in the symbolic creation of the invitation to the coronation of King Charles III and his wife Camilla. We explain to you!
It’s well known, the devil is in the details ! And in view of the invitations for the coronation of King Charles IIIwhich have just been unveiled, we definitely realize thatno detail has been left to chance. Designed by heraldic artist and illustrator Andrew Jamiesonthe invitations are revealed colorful and feature a range of flowersfoliage, wild animals and the coat of arms of Charles III and Queen Camilla (see HERE). It reads the request to the recipients to attend the historic event that will take place at Westminster Abbey on May 6and which will mark as indicated in the header “The coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla“. He is signed up : “By order of the king, the count marshal is invited to invite” followed by a space for the name, then: “to be present at Westminster Abbey Church on 6 May 2023“. But the most interesting thing is that the flowers that appear in the drawing are all in groups of threewhich means that Charles is the third monarch to reign under this name. On the other hand, the title of Queen Camilla is used for the first time officially on the invitations sent to more than 2,000 guests. Camilla was until now called queen consort since the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The original invitation illustration was hand painted in watercolor and gouache. The drawing is not insignificant since it recalls the coronation emblem. It was thus reproduced and printed on a recycled card, with gold leaf details. The motif of the Green Man, an ancient figure in British folklore, a symbol of spring and rebirth, was chosen and put at the heart of the design for celebrate the new reign. We discover it crowned with natural foliage, made up of oak leaves, ivy and hawthorn, and of course the emblematic flowers of the United Kingdom. There british wildflower meadow bordering the invitation features lily of the valley, blueberries, wild strawberries, dog roses, bluebells and a sprig of rosemary for remembrance, and wild animals including a bee, butterfly, ladybug, a winter wren and a robin. Without forgetting the lion, the unicorn and the boar (taken from the coat of arms of Their Majesties).
