The Senate approves a resolution in support of rail

The Senate approved Wednesday by a show of hands a proposal for a communist resolution in support of the development of the railway which calls on the government to renovate the small lines, to increase the frequency or to lower the VAT on the tickets.

In this time of energy crisis, let us reaffirm that iron is more resilient than air and road, declared Senator Grard Lahellec (PC), author of the resolution which was voted on by a show of hands, with the abstention from the right (LR).

The infrastructure manager needs at least one billion euros a year to plan a balanced network of the territory and offer an alternative mobility to our fellow citizens, he added.

In particular, the resolution calls on the government to implement a major national plan for the development of rail transport in all its components.

I take (this resolution) as a requirement, replied the Minister Delegate for Transport, Clément Beaune, specifying that the government was against the text.

He deplored the railway decline of certain interventions during the debate and assured that it is not true that the grass is so green elsewhere and that everything would be dark and black in our country, citing the success of the TGV as an example.

It is true that there are things that for a long time or at the moment work less well or work badly. I obviously think of the question of the network, however recognized Mr. Beaune.
