Since December 30, Netflix subscribers can discover the second opus of “It”. A story that traumatized an entire generation.
If many people over 30 are terrified of clowns, it’s largely because of Stephen King and Tommy Lee Wallace. The youngest can see why by watching one of Netflix’s latest releases, since December 30. In 1990, the director brought to the screen the book published by the author a few years earlier: That. Consisting of two films, this story tells the adventures of the “failure club”, a gang of young teenagers living in the small town of Derry. They meet there Pennywise (Grippe-Sou in the French version), a demon who most often takes on the appearance of a clown and takes care of the children. Many years after defeating it the first time, grown-up children learn that “it” has returned. They must honor their oath of youth and come together to fight him again.

The first diptych, terrifying, owes a lot to the performance of Tim Curry. The actor gave life to Pennywise as colorful as it is disturbing. The idea of a remake was quickly raised, but it took many years to wait for the new version to be born. It was only in 2017 that a new That was born. Directed by Andy Muschietti, it features Bill Skarsgård as the terrible clown-demon, in a much less colorful and more visually disturbing style.
