The series “In the shade of the Magnolias” has just made its big comeback on Netflix for a season 3 that is still as intense for Dana Sue, Maddie and Helen. Is a sequel already planned?
This Thursday, July 21, Netflix released the third season of In the Shadow of the Magnolias. Always placed under the sign of love, this new burst of episodes has seen Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) and Helen (Heather Headley) face many challenges that have damaged their beautiful friendship.
As Maddie tries to salvage her relationship with Cal (Justin Bruening), Dana Sue, who is figuring out how to use Miss Frances’ check to help the community without upsetting her family, has to face a new enemy. For her part, Helen was giving her great love one last chance…
The end of a chapter?
If since its launch, In the Shadow of the Magnolias has never backed down from a final cliffhanger that gave us only one desire, to see the sequel (we still remember the end of season 1 and its car accident, or even season 2 which ended with a marriage proposal), this season 3 took all the fans by surprise, the writers having decided to end on a positive note.
While Dana Sue and Ronnie’s vow renewal ceremony had its fair share of events, the final moments feel eerily like the end of a chapter, and not just for the couple.
“I think the poor fans would kill us if there was another cliffhanger”, thus entrusted Heather Headley, the interpreter of Helen, to our colleagues from TVLine. She’s happy the season is ending with a point.”or even an exclamation point. Or a three little dots… question mark?”.
Whatever the chosen punctuation, season 3 has certainly concluded many intrigues left unresolved for several episodes, but there is still a lot of drama to explore in the small town of Serenity. Enough to get a season 4?
Is a season 4 possible?
For the moment, Netflix has not yet announced if A l’ombre des Magnolias will return for a season 4. Unlike many other fictions on the platform, such as Virgin River which had been renewed for two additional seasons, the fate of the series is therefore not yet assured.
However, there is nothing to worry about! The second season was announced two months after the release of the first episodes, and the third season was made official three months after the previous one. If there is to be season 4, Netflix should announce it in the coming weeks.
Asked by the American site Distractify, Logan Allen, who plays Kyle Townsend in the series, says he is rather confident about a sequel. “What’s great about this series is that you can do 10 seasons of it. There are so many things to tell with the books that have been created. We can play and have fun. I hope season 4 will see the light of day.” Case to follow…
