The French administration’s official site, Service-public.fr, reached the half-billion mark in 2021. It also generated millions of online inquiries last year.

The direction of legal information and administration (DILA) indicated that the official site Service-public.fr had crossed the bar of 500 million visits for the year 2021 alone. Enough to start the year 2022 in the best possible ways for the platform, which experienced a 17% increase in traffic in 2021 compared to 2020. After several major changes in 20 years, the site, which constitutes a real bridge between the French, administrative information and the services offered online or in physics, will evolve again in 2022.

Almost 6 million administrative procedures carried out directly on the site in 2021

Known to many French people, the Service-public.fr platform has a dual mission. Its primary goal is to inform citizens about the rights to which they can claim and the steps they can take, in various fields, such as housing, work, transport, family, citizenship, justice, social health or leisure. Its other mission is to guide users to the right public service and so that they can, as soon as possible, carry out their procedures directly online.

Often criticized for its inefficiency and lack of clarity, the site has evolved a lot in recent years, to become a courted platform, which boasts of having 1 million subscribers to its newsletter and totaling no less than 9 million accounts. personnel and 5.7 million procedures carried out in 2021 alone. Among the most common procedures, we find a request for a civil status certificate, a change of address for services or administrations, or registration on the electoral roll.

It is also often the feedback and criticism of citizens on the site that have enabled it to evolve in the right direction, by wanting to be concise and as relevant as possible to facilitate administrative procedures, especially for French people who are far away. digital, and even if the site’s ergonomics are not yet optimal. The “News” part of the site is the most interesting, for example answering many questions about health protocols in times of Covid, the revaluation of the minimum wage or the income tax.

Service-public.fr is preparing for a peak in consultation during the election period

In 2021, Service-public.fr was able to present to the public the overhaul of the online registration process for electoral rolls. This came at the right time, a few months before the presidential and then legislative elections, with 2.9 million consultations of his electoral situation recorded.

Last year, the site was also made accessible to people with disabilities and meets all the criteria of the RGAA, the general reference for improving accessibility.

It should, no doubt in February, see the unloading of a new information and guidance site for businesses, put online in partnership with the Ministry of the Economy.
