While the new Star Academy season is in full swing on TF1, several former students take the floor to talk about their own experience at the Château de Dammarie-les-Lys. Among them, Hoda, who returned to her duet with Tina Turner. And it almost didn’t happen.
A moment that almost never happened. On October 15, TF1 relaunched the star Academy after fourteen years of absence. Famous tele-hook, it has allowed many young talents to make a name for themselves in music, such as Jenifer, Nolwenn Leroy or Élodie Frégé, who recently returned to the set of the show to sing with the new academicians. The opportunity also for some former students to look back on their adventure at the castle of Dammarie-les-Lys, such as Sofia Essaïdi, who confided in her crying spells, Mario Barravecchia, who revealed how much Elton John had been “execrable” during her time on the show, while Francesca Antoniotti revealed the inappropriate remark made to her by a singer. At the microphone of Morning without filter of Guillaume Genton, on October 31, it was Hoda’s turn to entrust an anecdote about his adventure.
What’s next after this ad
Revealed in the fourth season of the star Academy, Hoda Sanz had the chance during his adventure to sing with essential artists of the French music scene, but also, international. Among them, we obviously remember of his duet with Tina Turnerthe preparation of which was not easy for her. “I was told, when she arrived, that she was borderline a little agoraphobic and that I absolutely must not approach her, that I remain seated. The tray was emptied, it was not there wasn’t even a single cameraman”, she remembered. Sitting next to Matthieu Gonet, the bonus repeater, the young woman had received for “order” not to talk to Tina Turner, “not to touch her and wait for her to come to [elle]”. “The curtain opens, she comes down, I had the throbbing at 10,000, she was dripping with charisma”said Hoda, still amazed.
The duo that almost didn’t happen
One moment “gorgeous”which however darkened when Tina Turner saw Hoda. “She stops with her manager two meters from me, and I feel there is a problem. She’s looking at me, and she’s talking to her manager. I don’t know what’s going on. […] Finally, she comes to me, and she says to me, in English: ‘You are not Francesca'”, she recalls. In effect, Tina Turner, “indignant”expected to sing with Francesca Antoniottianother student of the promotion. “Matthieu Gonet explains to me that the programming is done three weeks before their arrival and that we had warned Tina Turner that she would share her duet with another candidate, who is called Francesca. […] No one had warned her that on the way, it was no longer Francesca, but me who was going to sing with her”said Hoda, who finally sang with Tina Turner, while Francesca, she shared a sublime duet during this same bonus with Laura Pausini.
