the shocking letter from the rectorate sent to the parents of a teenager before his suicide

On Tuesday September 5, a teenager ended his life in his home in Poissy, in Yvelines. He had previously reported having been harassed at high school, and his parents had denounced the passivity of the establishment. The rectorate’s response, last May, was made public this Saturday, September 16, and caused even the government to jump.

On September 5, a mother found her son Nicolas in cardiorespiratory arrest in their home in Poissy (Yvelines). Emergency services were unable to bring him back to life. HAS 15 year old, the teenager ended his life after months of school harassment. Facts that he did not hide: he presented himself at the Poissy police station over the last few months with his father. The young man would have been the target of repeated mockery and insults from two students at his former establishment, the Adrienne-Bolland high school in Poissy. But despite the meetings made with the high school administration – including two with the students concerned – the situation has not calmed down. Nicolas’ parents therefore sent a letter to the school in April, in order to denounce his lack of reaction. In May, they received a response from the Versailles rectorate, the content of which was revealed this Saturday, September 16 by BFMTV.

Interviewed this Sunday September 17 by The Sunday JournalBéatrice, Nicolas’s mother, remembers with bitterness the day she received this letter: “We were outraged. We were now seen as guilty. It was too much. From that moment on, Nicolas was no longer the same. It was so rude and above all unfair.”

The letter from the rectorate to Nicolas’s parents, “a shame” for Gabriel Attal

The content of the letter reached the government. For the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, cthis answer is “a failure”. Speaking to BFMTV, she clarified that an inspection had been initiated. The goal is for this not to happen again.and that all those involved are trained to hear and listen to the words of children.”, she added. The Minister of Education, Gabriel Attal, described this letter as “shame”. After receiving Nicolas’ parents, he admitted that mdespite all the efforts that have been made, we are still not up to par.” A two-week investigation was launched after the tragedy, and an audit should be launched on Monday September 18 on all reports of harassment made last year.
