Nobody knew exactly what ZDF had planned for its 60th birthday on “The Show of Shows”. In the end they were reissues.

ZDF celebrated its 60th birthday during prime time on Saturday evening with the show “The Show of Shows”. In the run-up it was not entirely clear what the audience could expect. According to a press release, five show classics would be combined: “The Grand Prize”, “Dalli Dalli”, “1, 2 or 3”, the “ZDF hit parade” and “Wetten, dass ..?”. In addition, the makers announced numerous star guests, including Giovanni Zarrella (45), Andrea Kiewel (57) or the currently ubiquitous Riccardo Simonetti (30). Johannes B. Kerner (58) would moderate.

But those who had hoped for retrospectives and excerpts from the past were disappointed. The ZDF relied on new editions of the well-known shows – and with great success.

The proven programs were shown for around half an hour each. They were moderated by well-known faces, some of whom surprised positively. So “Wetten, dass..?” At the beginning not Thomas Gottschalk (72), who was also present as moderator, but Christoph Maria Herbst (57), who – very Gottschalk-like – showed himself in a shrill leopard look. Herbst led through the 30-minute special “Wetten, dass..?” in a relaxed and quick-witted manner. Annette Frier (49) then continued with “Dalli, Dalli”, followed by Joachim Llambi (58) with “Der Grosse Preis”, the “ZDF hit parade” with Mike Krüger (71) and “1, 2 oder 3”. Jessica Black (45).

“The show of shows” reaches almost four million people

A total of 3.8 million viewers tuned in to ZDF at 8:15 p.m. This put “The Show of Shows” in second place in the total audience at prime time, after “A step to round off” in the first place, ahead of private RTL with “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” or ProSieben with “The Masked Singer”. A total of 14.7 percent of the TV audience was achieved.
