The Sims 4 may be 10 years old this year, but its popularity is not waning. It’s even the most played episode of the license. When Margot Robbie (Barbie) takes over The Sims phenomenon
The Sims 5 is not planned for release right away, and a new project could perhaps even be released before it. Last March, we learned that the famous actress Margot Robbie wanted to take over the franchise to make a film. At that time, The Hollywood Reporter said that Kate Herron, who directed season 1 of Loki for Disney+, would be behind the camera with support from Briony Redman. A screenwriter who wrote one of the episodes of the reboot of the legendary Doctor Who series. In the “City of Angels”, projects are nevertheless made and undone at great speed, but that is not the case this time.
Amazon MGM Studios has won the jackpot to distribute The Sims, produced by Margot Robbie’s company LuckyChap. And it was a real battle, because behind the scenes, Netflix was on the case. The firm with the red N even offered a much larger sum of money. But it was its 100% video streaming strategy that derailed the deal. The feature film The Sims wants to be released in theaters, and Amazon MGM studios could provide this assurance. The other good news is that Kate Herron and Briony Redman have not been ruled out. They will both be on the project.
A future hit for this The Sims film? After the Barbie wave, also produced by Margot Robbie’s company, the potential is there. Mattel’s The Adventures of the Doll has well exceeded a billion dollars at the box office.
