With the help of Elise, a doctor specializing in sleep who has come to the hospital as reinforcements, he will discover the origin of these mysterious falling asleep which is not unrelated to the murders he is investigating. A dark affair that will reveal deep ‘wounds’ inflicted on the earth.”

Who is it with?

Aurélien Wiik (Munch, Luther) and Lola Dewaere (Astrid and Raphaëlle) play the main roles in this TV movie, playing Martin and Elise respectively. They give the reply to Stéphane Freiss, Flore Bonaventura, Vincent Winterhalter, François-David Cardonnel, Julien Crampon or even Nils Hamel Brochen.

The Sleeping Village is a 90-minute fiction written by Frédérique Fall, Mathieu Gleizes and Alain Etévé. Philippe Dajoux is in charge of the production.

It’s worth checking out ?

From the first seconds of Sleeping Village, a policeman dozes at the wheel of a van while transporting a criminal. Without delay, an accident occurs because the driver has indeed dozed off: the prisoner escapes and becomes a fugitive… then everything is linked!

No time to blink during the first half hour of the TV movie. Many issues are in fact put in place and intersect. We also wonder how everything will be completed during the remaining 60 minutes of the fiction…

On the sidelines of this escape, we meet Martin, an anxious cop, and we discover that his marriage is on the verge of implosion. In the town where he lives with his wife and their son, a phenomenon as strange as it is disturbing then occurs: residents suddenly plunge into a deep sleep from which it is impossible to extricate them.

Quickly, an expert doctor, Dr. Elise Berthelot, arrives to understand the cause of this mysterious epidemic of comas. Shortly after, a containment is put in place… except that murders are now to be deplored within the community! What are the links that connect these events to each other?

The reasons that caused the locals to fall asleep and the rest of the incidents are explained in a confused way. Everything suddenly changes in the second part of the fiction! Between crooked policies, harmed ecology and dirty tricks, a health scandal is woven in parallel with the personal problems of the protagonists.

All of this could have been better proportioned and developed as we progress through the story. The story would have probably gained in fluidity because we regret that the pace is running out of steam… Too bad. Despite everything, the acting of the actors is convincing and the production helps to keep the viewer in suspense at the very intriguing start of the fiction.
