The status of France Identity sparked a curious exchange on X between the official account dedicated to the TGV INOUI transport offer and the one in charge of the application. However, France Identity is an official government application whose aim is, precisely, to accommodate identity papers – and, therefore, to be a dematerialized alternative to the traditional CNI. The general public launch of the app took place in February 2024. The tool can accommodate a digital version of the national electronic identity card (and only this one; the previous version is not compatible), but also Driving license. Basically, these variations on the app have the same status as their “paper” counterpart.
