“Koh-Lanta” at war against Internet users who spoil the TF1 show? The production company Adventure Line Productions has just won an unprecedented legal battle, on the sidelines of the broadcast of “Koh-Lanta: The Legend”.

The president of the Paris court on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, issued an order banning any publication that would disclose elements of upcoming episodes of Koh Lanta, according to information from the Parisian. Indeed, on social networks, anonymous accounts reveal in advance the content of the program. Koh Lanta, of which the eliminated “Social networks are not a lawless area, explained a source close to the matter to the Parisian. It is up to justice to supervise the abuses of the digital society. We can sometimes think that rumors contribute to the interest of the viewer, but, here, it is the reverse. Secrecy is the singularity of the program and the judge took into account the important measures and the significant investments implemented to preserve it “. “The judge adopted these criteria as well as the fact that the content is difficult to access and of commercial value. What these people are doing is unlawful breach of secrecy.”

These legal production measures are also taken to protect candidates from Koh Lanta. Following these revelations, some are indeed victims of harassment and hate messages on their social networks. This surge of hatred appears despite all the precautions taken by Adventure Line Production, which proscribes external people on the Koh-Lanta set and forbids technical teams to use their mobile phones on the premises.

This legal decision was not decided following the broadcast of Koh-Lanta: all stars. Already in 2020, in full containment, the production had already taken strict measures regarding the pressures on the casting. In the spring of 2020, several candidates had indeed received hate messages, including death threats, after the dissemination of spoilers by anonymous Twitter profiles. It was therefore at that time that Adventure Line Productions had decided to take legal action. It remains to be hoped that the harassment of candidates and the spoilers on Koh-Lanta will now end.
