The state announces the creation of a "parents' committee"

To fight against bullying at school, Marlène Schiappa, Minister Delegate to the Interior Minister responsible for Citizenship, announced the creation of a new measure to support parents.

School bullying kills. On the evening of March 8, the body of Alisha, a 14-year-old teenager, was found in the Seine. A victim of bullying at school, the girl was said to have been trapped by two comrades, Théo, 15, and Juni, his girlfriend of the same age. The girl was reportedly severely beaten before being thrown alive into the Seine in Argenteuil. The two suspects were indicted Wednesday evening for murder, before being remanded in custody.

An appalling tragedy on which Marlène Schiappa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior in charge of Citizenship, returned this Sunday on France Info, at the dawn of the white march organized to pay tribute to Alisha. "It tears my heart to think of this little young girl's last hours. First, I want to associate myself with the pain of those close to her and especially of her parents whom I saw express themselves", she confided.

To fight against bullying at school, she announced the establishment, within a week, of a "Parents' committee with associations like UNAF, e-Enfance, personalities like Fabien Servan-Schreiber and others".

"I would like to tell you that I believe that faced with the issue of harassment (…) We are waiting for the State to take action against harassment, me, as a mother, i want to tell you that we can better equip parents", she emphasizes.

The minister calls for “increased vigilance” on the part of parents. “And together we will work around the Houses of Trust and Family Protection which are tools created by the national gendarmerie to better equip parents against harassment everywhere in the territory, when one is the parent of a harassed child, but also when you are the parent of a child who participates in these bullying phenomena. "

She also recalls the importance of social networks in this phenomenon. "With social media, you don't always see what your child is doing. (…) And I believe that no parent imagines that their own child is participating in a phenomenon of bullying or cyberstalking", she laments.

Each year, nearly 700,000 students are victims of school bullying, including 12% in primary schools, 10% in middle school and 4% in high school.
