The date and part of the content of the first State of Play of 2024 would have been revealed in advance. A few surprises should be expected.
Rumors around Sony speaking out are intensifying. After a most reassuring Xbox Developer, the Japanese manufacturer is also preparing State of Play which would shed light on the line-up of the PS5 and PS VR 2 for this year 2024. A few names had already leaked, but it seems that we finally have a date and some of the titles presented.
The new State of Play is confirmed
The noose is tightening around the first State of Play of the year. The rumors have been growing for several weeks now and the event is becoming more and more confirmed. Sony is reportedly preparing a live-streamed conference in which it will present several future PS5 exclusives and games from its partners. This in itself would not be much of a surprise, as the publisher has made a habit of holding such an event at the end of February for several years. The 2024 edition would, however, be held earlier than usual. According to’insider Shpeshal_Nick, this State of Play would take place around January 31, 2024. The man’s reputation is what it is, but it seems that the video of the conference is already uploaded to YouTube and that there has already been access, but this remains pure speculation.
In other words, he made his little “revelations” about this State of Play content. It also confirms the presence of the two games which had already leaked via the dataminer Billbil-Kun: Death Stranding 2 On The Beach (since that would be its name), but also the return of Until Dawn on PS5 and PC. The manufacturer would therefore take the opportunity to communicate around exclusives from external studios, including Rise of the Ronin and FF7 Rebirth, but not only that. We should obviously expect news from Silent Hill 2 Remake, Sonic Generations Remaster or even Judas, the new game from the creator of Bioshock. The next Metro game will also likely be revealed there. Rumor has it that this will be a single-player title fully playable in VR, perfect for reassuring PS VR 2 players.

Can we expect PlayStation Studios games during this State of Play? Perhaps the manufacturer will want to create a surprise by offering a glimpse of some of its in-house productions, but this is quite unlikely at this stage. Santa Monica and Naughty Dog have been working on new licenses for some time when London Studio is working on its fantastic service game, but are they ready to come out in the open? We are rather counting on a big no.
