The State targets 183 territories for its industrial policy

A project to strengthen the wood industry in the Vosges, another for innovation in watchmaking in Haut-Doubs or the management of economic waste in Champagne, an awareness program for industrial professions in schools in Perche …the list is varied of files which appear in the 183 “Industry Territories” presented by the government on Thursday November 9 in Chalon-sur-Saône (Saône-et-Loire).

Five years after the launch of the first edition, which included 149 activity areas, the State is renewing this system which brings together local and national public authorities and industry. In detail, of the 183 sites, 70 are identical to the first phase, 84 have been reconfigured and 29 are new.

Endowed with 100 million euros per year until 2027, this new stage, announced by Emmanuel Macron in his speech on French industrial policy on May 11, this time places priority on projects linked to the ecological transition, a major project. from the government, with the help and funding of the France 2030 plan.

“Reconciling the economy and ecology”

Co-led by Christophe Béchu, Minister for Ecological Transition, Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate for Industry, and Dominique Faure, Minister Delegate for Local Authorities, this system aims to revive industry in rural departments and medium-sized towns, which are suffering mainly from deindustrialization in France over the past forty years. “This is the territorial aspect of our industrial policy”explains Roland Lescure for whom “industry is the best way to reconcile the economy and ecology in the country, the end of the month and the end of the world, the territories and the metropolises”.

Launched in the fall of 2018, while France was facing the crisis of “yellow vests”by former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, the plan Industry territories according to the government, has created some 50,000 jobs in five years for nearly 2,400 local projects initiated. Finally, the system participates in the identification of the next 50 “turnkey” industrial sites proposed by the green industry law passed in October to attract future investors.
