PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The State has decided to temporarily remove the cap on the payments of certain renewable energy producers in order to recover part of the profits generated by the rise in electricity prices, the newspaper reported on Tuesday. The echoes.
“The Directorate General for Energy and Climate (DGEC) has announced a unilateral removal of the cap on all solar or wind power contracts which capped the amounts that producers had to pay back to the State, in the event of a surge in prices. electricity,” a source familiar with the matter told the newspaper.
The contracts capping these payments represent 15% to 20% of those made by the State with the sector, added the source quoted by Les Echos.
The measure announced to producers must be limited to the period from April 1 to December 31, 2022 but could be renewed, a sector player told Les Echos.
“Given the forecasts of high electricity prices, the excess profits in renewables could reach 3 billion euros over the next three years,” said another source quoted by Les Echos.
