TF1 is broadcasting two unreleased episodes of the series “Le Substitute” with JoeyStarr tonight. And after ? No sequel seems to be in the pipeline and the program’s disappointing audience scores could well mark the end of Nicolas Valeyre’s adventures.
Is TF1 broadcasting the last two episodes of the series The Replacement, worn by JoeyStarr and Barbara Schulz tonight? In any case, that is what we can assume.
After returning to the air last week with a double episode which welcomed Thierry Neuvic as a guest and saw the teachers and students of Marie Curie being temporarily relocated to an establishment of excellence, the TF1 school series continues this Monday, October 24 with two new episodes that fans won’t want to miss.
As the French baccalaureate exams approach, tension rises in the school after the catastrophic results of Nicolas Valeyre’s class in the white baccalaureate. The management is worried, the parents of students are insurgent, and even his students are seriously questioning the unacademic methods of the substitute teacher.
To prepare them as well as possible for the exam, Valeyre will once again surprise everyone by organizing a review course according to its own educational principles: a class outing in the middle of the countryside!
This bivouac in the middle of nature, which is not really to the taste of the students, is not without surprise for Nicolas since the latter comes face to face with his father, whom he has not seen for years. The reunion is electric and the reproaches rain down.
Shaken, Nicolas Valeyre must nevertheless ensure his masterclass and manage the teenagers who have found nothing better than stealing the neighbor’s tractor in the middle of the night. This time, for sure, a disciplinary council awaits the replacement teacher…
End of the course for The Replacement on TF1?
Next Monday, TF1 viewers will not find the rest of the series led by JoeyStarr, Barbara Schulz, Héléna Noguerra, Stéphane Guillon and Sébastien Chassagne. As a replacement, the channel will offer the film Hotel Transylvania 3 at 9:10 p.m. during the school holidays.
And everything leads to believe that Le Remplacant could well and truly stop since TF1 has exhausted its stock of unreleased films in box and has not announced the filming of new episodes. Not even ordering new scripts.
Could the disappointing audience ratings of the series during its previous broadcast evenings have pushed the channel to put an end to the adventure on the sly?

Last Monday, the two episodes with Thierry Neuvic only attracted an average of 2.55 million viewers, for a market share of 12.2% on the general public and only 14.7% on the commercial target. favored by women purchasing managers under 50 (FRDA-50), dear to TF1. A score far too low on this indicator for the front page.
The series has thus lost 700,000 viewers since its previous broadcast on May 9, which managed to attract 3.23 million viewers (16.1% of the public and 21.5% of the FRDA-50). And these figures were already down sharply compared to the launch of the Substitute in April 2021 on TF1.
The first two episodes of the series had indeed attracted 7.6 million viewers on D+7 (replay included), i.e. 34% of women responsible for purchases under 50 and 42% of 15-24 year olds. A huge card that JoeyStarr and his comrades have not been able to reproduce since. The fault, perhaps, with an extremely disjointed programming, the front page having taken almost a year before drawing episodes 3 to 6.
While waiting for a possible confirmation from TF1 concerning the end of the Substitute after only 10 episodes of 52 minutes, fans of school series, who certainly already mourn the end of La Faute à Rousseau at the end of its second season, will be able to console themselves with the return next year of The school of life on France 2, which will be entitled to a season 2 now carried by Julie de Bona.
As for Sam, season 7, which obviously required major rewrites, is still not officially recorded. Even if Charlotte Gaccio recently announced in an interview that these new episodes could be filmed at the beginning of next year.
