France 2 broadcasts this evening from 10:40 p.m. the last episodes of “Survivors of Arianna”. Despite the audiences at half mast, a season 2 could still see the light of day …
This Wednesday, August 2 from 10:40 p.m., France 2 is broadcasting the last three episodes of the Survivors of Arianna, an ambitious mini-series co-produced with Germany and Italy. If the plot full of mysteries seemed to have all the ingredients to please the viewers of the channel, the fiction with Stéfi Celma (Ten percent) has however failed to find its audience.
When it launched, only 1.61 million curious people gathered to watch the first two installments. The following week, the hearings fell drastically, since only 1.10 million viewers had zapped on the channel.
Last week, France 2 therefore took the decision to deprogram the series, and to broadcast it in the second part of the evening, after old episodes of César Wagner.
Will there be a season 2?
Despite its very disappointing audiences, The Survivors of Arianna could still be entitled to a season 2. Indeed, the series being an international co-production, the French figures will not be the only ones to determine its future.
The screenwriter, Viola Rispoli, indeed confided during a interview that a second burst of episodes was already in writing. “The Arianna Survivors story is set to span two seasons”, she explained.
“We already have our plan, and the story of the second season is already thought out. The plot of each episode has yet to be written, however. If Rai gives us the green light, that’s all we have to do.”
The scriptwriters are therefore just waiting for the renewal of the series by the Italian channel to embark on writing the twelve episodes which will make up the possible season 2.
Unfortunately, the audiences during the broadcast of Rescapés de l’Arianna on Rai last November were not much more encouraging than the French figures, there is a good chance that the series will definitely bow out at the end of season 1.
