The takeover of Atlanta by the Benettons and Blackstone would be sealed this year-PDT

CERNOBBIO, Italy, Sept 4 (Reuters) – A takeover of Italian infrastructure group Atlantia by the Benetton family and U.S. fund Blackstone could be completed by the end of the year, its chairman said on Sunday.

The two candidates made a proposal in April of 58 billion euros to take the airport and motorway operator out of the stock market, but have not yet formally launched their offer, pending the green light from the supervisory authorities.

“We hope to be able to meet the timetable we have set,” Giampiero Massolo, chairman of Atlanta, told Reuters at a business forum.

According to him, the most likely scenario is the launch of an offer in October with a target of exit from listing by the end of the year.

The president of Atlanta has also confirmed his interest in a potential investment in the American highway operator Chicago Skyway.
