The transfer will be labeled “credimpot advance”. “Taxpayers for whom the tax administration is not aware of bank details (183,000 tax households) will receive this advance in the form of a check which they will receive by post by the end of January »specifies the ministry.

Who will receive the advance? It’s a bit complex: this concerns households having declared, in the spring of 2023, certain reductions or certain tax credits for expenses incurred in 2022. For example, you will benefit from this if you made a payment in 2022. donation to an association or foundation eligible for the classic tax reduction of 66% or the boosted tax reduction of 75%, known as “Coluche”.

Only certain tax advantages are concerned. The main ones: the reduction for donations, therefore, but also the tax credit for union dues, that for the employment of employees at home and childcare, the tax reduction for accommodation costs in establishments accommodation for dependent elderly people (Ehpad), tax reductions for rental investment, such as that of Pinel, and the reduction linked to Loc’Avantages deviceformerly called “Cosse” or “Affordable Rent”.

To be repaid, perhaps

The advance of credits or tax reductions is 60% – you therefore receive 60% of the amount to which you were entitled for your 2022 expenses, as part of the tax declared in 2023. Accuracy of the tax administration : “The minimum amount of the advance is 8 euros, below this threshold, it is not paid. »

In the summer of 2024, when you have declared your 2023 income, the tax administration will calculate the actual amount of your credits and your tax reductions granted for 2023 income, will take into account the amount of the advance paid and will regularize your situation.

If you received too high of an advance in January (for example if, in 2023, you stopped looking after your child or if you stopped your donations, or gave up using household help), you will be asked to repay the overpayment by mid-2024. If you incurred expenses qualifying for tax credits or reductions in 2023, but if you had not done so in 2022 (for example if you started childcare in 2023), you will not will not receive the advance.
