The ninth season of "The Teacher" will be broadcast in early 2021. It is now certain that Simon Böer will play the leading role in it.
Hendrik Duryn (52) is quitting his cult role as Stefan Vollmer in the RTL series "Der Lehrer" after 14 years. A replacement has already been taken care of: Simon Böer (45) will start his service as David Ritter at the Georg Schwerthoff Comprehensive School, as RTL announced in a message on Monday (October 5th). The math and physics teacher will surprise students and teachers with his methodology, because unlike his predecessor, he relies on logic instead of intuition. Nevertheless, he successfully solves the students' problems.
"It's about much more than just imparting knowledge – even if my character, David Ritter, sees it differently at first," explains Böer in a statement. School also means having the opportunity to strengthen social skills and emotional intelligence. "I am very happy to be able to carry on this valuable format with this great ensemble." The 13 new episodes are currently being produced in Bonn. The ninth season is scheduled to start in early 2021.
