The Galaxy S24 Ultra is not expected until early next year, but several months before its official release, we already know a lot more about its brand new screen, which promises some changes.
Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra smartphones have been using giant 6.8-inch screens for several years now, and the next generation is sure to carry on that tradition. However, if we are to believe the new information communicated by the leaker Ice Universe, the screen may well become slightly smaller.
Indeed, according to him, Samsung will give its Galaxy S24 Ultra a 6.78-inch screen, which is 0.02 inches less than the previous generation. If this change will largely go unnoticed by users, we already know that the screen will benefit from other major innovations.
Galaxy S24 Ultra screen will get brighter
With its Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung was content with a screen offering “only” 1750 nits at the most, while most of its competitors went up to more than 2000. This should finally be corrected with this generation. Remember, we knew the Galaxy S24 Ultra was going to feature a new M13 generation OLED panel.
The leaker Ice Universe has now specified that we must expect 2500 nits peak brightness, which will therefore be a major change from the current generation. Moreover, it will always be a screen with a definition of 3120 x 1440 pixels, and this one will offer a ratio of 19.5:9.
However, the biggest change is probably the shape of this screen. While Samsung has opted for curved screens on this series so far, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the first to adopt a flat screen. This change will be welcomed by all those who hate curved screens, it will lead to a significant change in the design of the front panel, and in particular the thickening of the side borders.
According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will offer 3.42mm bezels, much more than the 2.55mm of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max, or the 2.1mm of the Xiaomi 14. So they should be a lot more marked than on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but they will be fairly even on all sides.
