On the occasion of the broadcast of the film The Terminal on Sunday January 16, 2022, from 9:05 p.m. on 6ter, Télé Star reveals the incredible true story from which Steven Spielberg was inspired to make this feature film.
Like many movies, The terminal, which will be broadcast on 6ter Sunday January 16, 2022 from 9:05 p.m., is inspired by a story that actually happened. In this feature film released in cinemas in 2004, the character played by Tom Hanks finds himself stuck in an airport without papers, following the political upheavals that took place in his country, while he was traveling in the USA. This is pretty much what happened to a Syrian refugee responding to the name ofMehran Karimi Nasseri during the 90s.
In fact, this last left Tehran for London in 1974, looking for his biological mother. However, he was unable to enter British territory after having had his passport stolen, as well as his United Nations refugee certificate. He was then stripped of his nationality in the 1980s, when he returned to Iran. It was from then that a long and chaotic trip to Europe began for him, during which he do deport from each new country he thought he was settling in, for lack of proper papers.
The Terminal: the story described by Steven Spielberg inspired another film
Mehran Karimi Nasseri finally settled without papers, but with the authorization of the French authorities, in Terminal 1 of Paris Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport in 1988. He considered leaving for Canada after releasing his biography, baptized The Terminal man. He has moreover received a nice sum of money for having inspired the film The terminal, realized bySteven Spielberg. His story was also adapted into a film by Philippe Lioret, entitled fallen from the sky, worn by the late Jean Rochefort.
Concretely, it will remain installed within Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport until August 2006, before being hospitalized for an unknown reason. Contrary to what many people think, Mehran Karimi Nasseri has never been stuck in the transit zone. He was therefore free to move. He will finally leave the hospital in January 2007, and will then be cared for by the local branch of the French Red Cross at the airport.
