For a NAS with an Intel CPU, the price is more than honorable

If there is one major reason that justifies the arrival of the TerraMaster F2-223 in our comparison of the best NAS, it is the fact that it integrates an Intel processor where the competition, at the same price, is content with Realtek.

And this is evident in use: the low price of this TerraMaster NAS makes it entry-level, and yet, it has the characteristics of superior models in the Hardware section.

The F2-223 is equipped with a powerful Intel Celeron N4505 processor and 4 GB of DDR4 RAM. This configuration is sufficient for most home and small business applications, including file storage, media streaming, data backup and synchronization.

The TerraMaster NAS offers very good reading and writing performance. It is capable of handling bandwidth-intensive tasks such as streaming HD videos and streaming large files.

Such a configuration for a NAS at this price is rare!

How does the TerraMaster NAS compare to other models in the same range?

At this level of the range, there is indeed a model to which we can compare the TerraMaster F2-223: the QNAP TS-233, which accomplishes the feat of being even cheaper, and even a good fifty euros . But for what result?

The QNAP NAS proves to be quite convincing for domestic use, where the TerraMaster model may be suitable for small businesses. The connectivity of the TS-233 is also less rich, integrating for example only 2 USB 2.0 ports at the back whereas the F2-223 has 2 USB 3.1 ports.

Still, the price difference is not negligible and, for their price, the two models offer very convincing value for money.

TerraMaster: NAS with competitive price-quality ratios

If, in the NAS market, TerraMaster is certainly not a leader like Synology and QNAP, it is doing well thanks to an aggressive pricing policy.

It is in fact on the quality-price ratio that the Chinese manufacturer manages to distinguish itself, and the model that we are presenting to you today, the F2-223, is a good example, notably integrating an Intel processor where competitors are going for Realtek at this price.

TerraMaster applies this philosophy of quality-price ratio to all range levels. The manufacturer is not content with accessible models: it also offers more complete and high-end sets, such as the T9-423, which includes 9 bays for less than €1000. This model is also the demonstration that TerraMaster is trying to go beyond a simple cheaper copy of the competition, with innovations particularly in design and software.
