The terrible medical wandering of Shiloh, who died at 12 of breast cancer

Lhe parents of Shiloh, who died of breast cancer at just 12 years old, are sad and angry. They point to a succession of diagnostic errors that led to the death of their child. “My daughter died because she was 12”, insists on Parisian Diana, his mother. With Modibo, the father, she intends to file a complaint against the health establishments which examined their daughter, without detecting the cancer which carried her away on December 8, after several months of suffering.

In March 2021, the teenager notices small pimples and reports to her mother recurring pain in the left breast. They then obtain a first examination at the women’s imaging center in Franconville, in Val-d’Oise, where Diane requests a mammogram for her daughter. She is then told that breast cancer at such a young age does not exist. An ultrasound is nevertheless carried out and does not detect cancerous cells.

Late chemotherapy

Despite these reassuring diagnoses, Shiloh’s condition worsens to the point that she can no longer stand. His parents bring him to the emergency room where they are asked if a cat has scratched him recently. Diane and Modibo are even suspected of abuse. In August, Shiloh and her mother went to the Levallois-Perret International Dermatology Center where a practitioner, alarmed by the young girl’s condition, directed her to the gynecological emergency department of the Franco-British Hospital, where the verdict grave: it is a cancer, a malignant tumor called “grade II mammary angiosarcoma”.

Shiloh then began chemotherapy, but died on December 8, at only 12 years old. “Caught in time, there was the possibility that she would get out of it,” said Diane, who hopes that justice will be able to uncover the responsibilities of health establishments in this tragedy.
