If the recent price increase for the Tesla Model Y gave its competitors, Peugeot e-3008 in the lead, an opportunity to breathe, it was only temporary. Thus, the new High Autonomy Propulsion version of the American electric SUV arrives in France, a week after its launch on other European markets.
It has a nice surprise in store, since it is less expensive in France than our neighbors. The Model Y Grande Autonomie Propulsion, or LR RWD for short, is sold at €46,990 on our market, or €2,000 less than in Germany for example. This allows it to obtain the ecological bonus in our regions, reserved for electric cars sold for less than €47,000, which increases the price of this new version to €42,990.
Probably the most interesting model in the range and even in the entire category
At this price, the Model Y Grande Autonomie Propulsion offers up to 600 km of WLTP autonomy (565 km with optional 20″ rims), making it the most durable version of the electric SUV range. This model uses only one engine, like the entry-level version, but its performance is better. The Model Y High Autonomy Propulsion only takes 5.9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, or one second. less than the “all in all” Propulsion version, sold only €2,000 cheaper and which is satisfied with 455 km of maximum autonomy.
Compared to the Model Y’s competitors, this new version drives the point home. Only the Toyota bZ4X still manages to offer competitive prices compared to Tesla, but it does not exceed 503 km of autonomy. Otherwise, you have to look in the lower segment to find another interesting model, the Renault Scenic E-Tech, whose long-range version has a range of 625 km for a price starting from €46,990. Its price is therefore identical to the new version of the Model Y and the Scenic is also eligible for the ecological bonus. The fact remains that it is smaller, less well equipped as standard, less efficient and that its direct current charging is slower.
