Directed by Martin Bourboulon, The Three Musketeers unveils its first images! This French blockbuster promises to be one of the cinema events of 2023.
In June 2022, the filming of the diptych The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan and Milady, ended after long months of work!
Directed by Martin Bourboulon (Eiffel), these two works will be released on April 5 and December 13, 2023 respectively. Announced as one of the biggest budgets in French cinema, the diptych is revealed with a trailer for the first part: D’Artagnan.
After 8 months of shooting, “more than 2,300 shots”, without counting the 9 months of preliminary preparation, the films went through a long post-production phase before offering us these first images.
The two feature films making up this diptych were shot at the same time, but their release will therefore be spaced out by 8 months: April 5, 2023 for D’Artagnan, and December 13, 2023 for Milady. As a reminder, the film brings together an exceptional cast.
François Civil (D’Artagnan), Vincent Cassel (Athos), Romain Duris (Aramis), Pio Marmaï (Porthos), Eva Green (Milady), Louis Garrel (Louis XIII), Vicky Krieps (Queen Anne of Austria), Lyna Khoudri (Constance Bonacieux), Jacob Fortune Lloyd (the Duke of Buckingham) and Eric Ruf (the Cardinal of Richelieu) were all present for this long-term shoot, which began in September 2021 and continued until May 2022. .
Note that these feature films were shot exclusively in France. The story will take viewers from the Louvre to Buckingham Palace, from the slums of Paris to the siege of La Rochelle in a Kingdom divided by the wars of religion and threatened with invasion by England where a handful of men and women will cross their swords and link their destiny to that of France.
Screenwriters Alexandre de la Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte have indicated that it will be a rereading of the work of Alexandre Dumas, which has already been adapted more than thirty times for cinema and television.
D’Artagnan will land on April 5 in dark rooms.
