Totam in turn offers an indoor vegetable garden, which it calls “indoor garden”. And rightly so, since the device can accommodate aromatic herbs and vegetable plants as well as succulents and ornamental plants. It is even possible to mix the types of plants and customize the silhouette of the Totam.
Indeed, the modules are of different sizes and can grow the plant on the top or on the front. A single module can also opt for both configurations and let two plants grow in two different directions. The manufacturer plays on this asset, which differentiates it from competitors such as Veritable or Bosch.
The Totam indoor garden opts for hydroponics and aeroponics. The first is to grow plants without soil using a neutral substrate. The second is actually the evolution of hydroponics: the roots are in the open air, irrigated by a sprinkler system. As such, the user fills the drawer present under the water modules and the device manages the watering alone, in particular thanks to programs saved on the mobile application.
The growth of plants is also accelerated thanks to a light ramp. Composed of Samsung horticultural LEDs, the lamp adjusts to different positions and lights up automatically
– always thanks to the application – even if a physical button seems to be affixed to it. The replaceable LEDs can accelerate plant growth during the day with a 12W light, then reduce its power to a single watt at night, in order to produce a softer and warmer light. This “ambient” mode makes it possible to respect the cycle of the plants, but also offers another facet to the Totam, which turns into a decorative object. Especially since the indoor garden is placed on a piece of furniture or hung on the wall.
Totam announces that its indoor garden will soon be on Kickstarter at €99, half the price of its initial price. No price for the modules is communicated for the moment. Be that as it may, this is reminiscent of Prêt à Pousser, which started on Kickstarter and reappears there according to new releases.
