The town hall of Lille published on the morning of March 1, 2023 a press release indicating that it is undergoing an “intrusion into its information system”. The cybercrime department of the judicial police has taken up the case and measures are being taken to minimize the consequences of the attack.

The city of Lille is the victim of a cyberattack. She did not communicate either on the origin or on the scale of the attack, but affirms to do the necessary not to be ransom victim and to continue fulfilling its public service mission. The Town Hall declares that it is in the process of securing and protecting its data.

Many of its IT services are therefore taken offline, which affects the functioning of municipal services. The city’s telephone platform is inaccessible until further notice, and the Civil Status service operates by hand. Most services to the public are disrupted, their operation most often dependent on a computerized infrastructure.
