Months after the riots, eight and then seven men found themselves in court. They were identified by the authorities as the alleged masterminds behind the riot and charged with conspiracy charges. They went down in history as the "Chicago Seven".

"The Trail of the Chicago 7" was supposed to be released in cinemas worldwide in October of last year. Because of the corona pandemic, however, streaming provider Netflix ultimately won the bid and made the film available to its subscribers from October 16.
