Xiaomi would be the next manufacturer to enter the folding clamshell smartphone market. With the tests of Motorola or Oppo, but also and above all the Galaxy Z Flip from Samsung, a Xiaomi Mix Flip would appear on the horizon.
The arrival of folding screens on smartphones has given rise to two device formats. On one side, book-format folding smartphones like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold, and on the other hand, flip smartphones, like the manufacturer’s Galaxy Z Flip range.
Other manufacturers are gradually adopting these formats to create their own ranges of folding smartphones. OnePlus recently did it brilliantly with the OnePlus Open on the book format, while Motorola impressed us with its Razr 40 Ultra at the start of the year.
This time, a bigger competitor would be on the horizon for Samsung, number 3 in the Xiaomi sector.
A Xiaomi Mix Flip in the pipeline?
Two avenues outline the idea of a future foldable flip smartphone from Xiaomi. First of all, the Digital Chatting Station account on Weibo, well known for its indiscretions on the Chinese manufacturer. According to the account, Xiaomi would work on a smartphone adopting this design, with a vertical folding screen where the fold would be a teardrop, to better hide it when the screen is unfolded.
That’s not all, according to the media Ithome, a Xiaomi flip smartphone has appeared in the IMEI database. We can read the mention of a Xiaomi Mix Flip there. We also have the right to a design diagram by GSMChina.
We see that the external screen of the smartphone would be quite large and that the phone would offer three cameras on the back. On the front, the borders around the screen would be perfectly balanced. The folding screen would also integrate the front camera into a bubble.
Will it be released in France?
So far, all of Xiaomi’s folding smartphones have been stuck in China. The brand has never marketed one of these products in France. According to rumors, this could change with the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 expected for 2024. A folding flip smartphone being easier to produce on a large scale, we hope that marketing is also planned for France.
We also hope that the smartphone will be offered at an attractive price. This remains Xiaomi’s specialty, and the folding smartphone market really needs to become more accessible.
