An explosive document, from the national archives, and revealed, Friday, January 21, by the media politics, highlights the extreme measures Donald Trump was willing to take to cling to power.
A month after the former Republican president was defeated in the 2020 presidential election – and before he formally ceded power to Joe Biden – a draft White House executive order directed the top military official in the countries to seize election machines across the United States.
“As of today, the Minister of Defense must seize, collect, retain and analyze all machines, all equipment, all electronically stored information” concerning the election, indicates the three-page draft, never signed. Dated December 16, 2020, the decree also provided for the appointment of a special prosecutor responsible for filing complaints for any allegations of fraud arising from the seizures.

To justify this project, the document – of which it is not known who wrote it – lists a series of conspiracy theories about the fact that election machines have been hacked. It is among more than 750 documents handed over to the House of Representatives committee investigating the Capitol storming, after the Supreme Court denied Donald Trump’s appeal to block their disclosure.
