The unemployment rate for young people aged 15-24 fell further, dropping 1.9 points to 21.2%.

At the same time, the general employment rate of the labor force in Italy fell 0.2 points to 60%, continuing its decline that began in July.

The unemployment rate in Italy remains higher than that of the euro zone, which stood at 6.6% in July, its historical low.

The number of people looking for work fell by 1.6% in August compared to the previous month, or 31,000 fewer job seekers.

The unemployment rate for women remained stable at 9.3%, maintaining a level much higher than that of men, down 0.2 points to 6.7%.

The Italian government on Wednesday revised its growth estimate for this year upwards to 3.3%, against 3.1% forecast in April, thanks to stronger than expected GDP growth in the first half of the year. .

But the clouds began to accumulate in July, and GDP should register “a slight decline” in the second half, according to forecasts by the outgoing government of Mario Draghi.
