WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States will remove from Sunday the requirement for travelers arriving on its soil by air to undergo a screening test for COVID-19 before their departure, an official told Reuters on Friday. high-ranking member of President Joe Biden’s administration.

The decision, to be announced on Friday, was taken following an intense campaign in its favor by airlines and tourism companies, the official said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) validated the measure after coming to the conclusion that this testing requirement was no longer necessary.

The CDC will review that decision in 90 days, the US official said.
