“The vaccine pass has no health utility”, assures the doctor Gérald Kierzek

Gérald Kierzek believes that the vaccine pass, adopted by Parliament on January 16, has no “particular interest”. For him, it is not this pass that will encourage people to go get vaccinated. At the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk this Thursday morning on Europe 1, he also said that the health pass had no particular interest. A recent study by the Economic Analysis Council (CAE), an organization attached to Matignon, however shows that the health pass has prevented 4,000 deaths linked to Covid.

“The pass does not encourage vaccination”

“Did the health pass prevent the fifth or sixth wave Omicron? No”, assures the emergency doctor for whom the CAE study remains above all an “economic study” which must be put into perspective. “Members of the Scientific Council are also members of this Economic Council, which still poses a problem,” he believes, pointing to a conflict of interest. “They are evaluating the own measures they have taken,” adds Gérald Kierzek.

The all-vaccination strategy, a “mistake”

“This vaccination pass or this health pass, because it is globally the same thing, is of no particular interest”, according to this doctor, because “the most fragile people, who are those who should have been vaccinated , don’t go to the restaurant, they don’t go to the movies”. So the health pass is of no interest because it did not “push these people to vaccination”. On the other hand, it would have been necessary “to rely on a local network, on pharmacists, on nurses, and on town halls”, he suggests.

Targeting the most vulnerable

Gérald Kierzek goes even further in his remarks, assuring that the all-vaccination strategy is a “mistake” because “the Covid-19 epidemic affects the most fragile, the over 65s and obese patients”. It is therefore these people who must be convinced to go and be vaccinated and not the whole population, according to the doctor. “Adolescents have almost zero risk of serious forms. Why go and impose a vaccination on them?” he wonders.

Finally, Gérald Kierzek believes that the health pass, which will soon become a vaccination pass, induces “discrimination”. And, as a doctor, he makes it a point of honor to treat his patients without any discrimination. “We need to manage to have a calm and serene management of this crisis to get out of the epidemic,” he concludes.
