The very first electric cargo scooter in the world was designed thanks to this French aeronautics flagship

The start-up Qargos took advantage of Dassault Système’s design tool to imagine, model and develop what is the world’s first electric cargo scooter. It is currently in the testing phase.

If electric scooters are already widely used for deliveries in large cities, their design does not differ much from what is already done on the two-wheeler market. Instead, you should look at cargo bikes to find formats that allow you to transport large loads or bulky objects, for example. But new mobility devices are being developed in this direction.

A few weeks after discovering the cargo scooter, we present to you the start-up Qargos which has just developed the first electric cargo scooter in the world. Her name ? The F9. It was recently featured at the Dassault Systèmes 3DExperience World 2024 exhibition in Dallas, Texas. And the young company of Indian origin relied on French technology to achieve its goals.

Three times the capacity of a conventional two-wheeler

It is in fact based on the suite of 3DExperience tools from Dassault Systèmes, and more precisely the Solidworks software for computer-assisted 3D design and Simulia for the virtual simulation of the final product, that Qargos was able to develop its first model in a relatively short period of 24 months.

The Qargos F9 is an electric scooter that incorporates a 225 liter closed loading compartment, between the front and rear wheels. The company explains that it can transport up to 120 kilos of goods. All while maintaining a classic driving position for a two-wheeler.

As for the center of gravity, it remains low with the lithium-ion battery placed quite low. The capacity of the latter is 6.1 kWh, allowing the electric scooter to travel up to 150 km. On the engine side, it develops 3.4 kW, and up to 6 kW peak. The maximum speed is given for 80 km/h.

The million sales

If the Qargos F9 has above all identified needs based on the Indian market, very clearly the company does not intend to stop there. And knows that this funny machine can actually be used in many markets around the world. And the company believes immensely in its vehicle and the fact that it straddles several segments, which are used to delivering on two, three or four wheels.

The price also plays a lot in favor of this Q9 since Qargos plans to market it at a price of 150,000 Indian rupees. The equivalent for us of 1677 euros… excluding taxes of course.

The company already sees itself selling a million units of its new vehicle, still currently in testing, in less than five years. And if other large Asian markets are being considered (Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia), Europe is also already in Qargos’ sights.
