You thought E3 was completely dead? Surprise ! It will in fact be back in a year, even if we suspect that it risks losing its luster.
This year again the Summer Game Fest replaces the E3 which is only a shadow of itself. Indeed, canceled twice in 2020 then this year in 2022, it had only been entitled to a virtual version in 2021. Clearly the Summer Game Fest is taking its place with the organization of many online conferences.
A living dead E3?
Publishers are realizing that E3 is no longer that useful and that a simple online conference is enough to have the same effect on the public. The E3 therefore seems to make people dream only by the nostalgia it inspires and by its history.
However, and this is the surprise of the day, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which is in charge of the event, indicates that it will be back next year, in 2023.
The information comes straight from the Washington Post and its gaming channel. It’s Stanley Pierre-Louis, President and CEO of ESA who talks about the return of E3 in these terms:
We are very excited to return in 2023 with a digital and physical event
The famous show will therefore also be back also in physical format, the opportunity to let players (especially Americans) take care of discovering certain games.
